Field bus terminals

The field bus terminals from ECKELMANN are distinguished by their own 8-bit controller, providing each module with its own intelligence. This boosts the response time by a factor of 4-20 in comparison with other field bus-based controllers and relieves
the burden on the CAN bus. If users activate the modules integrated cross-communication, they can achieve response times of about 1 ms, which no other PLC system achieves over a field bus.

Following controller modules are available to users:

Cross-communication

Cross-communication means that data sent from modules can be read and linked by other modules via the CAN bus.

  • Digital and analog input modules evaluate signals and then transfer the results to all bus stations (PDO objects).
  • Output modules select relevant data from the bus (PDO objects), link them and directly execute output reactions.
  • This results in fast and defined response times for secondary controls in the modules.

Example: the field bus terminal AIO22 with PID controller and simultaneous monitoring of threshold values:

  • 2 independent PID controllers
  • Setpoints and actual values are sent and received via the CAN bus
  • 2 actual values are evaluated with regard to several parametrizable limit values
  • In case that the individual limit values are exceeded, PDO objects are sent via the CAN bus

Example: the field bus terminal DOM08 with logic functions fort he outputs:

  • 8 digital physical outputs
  • 8 internal logic outputs with masking and bit-by-bit operations of PDO objects
  • Parametrizable output of the logic outputs to the physical outputs
