Multiprocessor systems
For installations in which a large number of technological control loops with a high sampling rate are realised and, in synchronism, complex processes have to be controlled and algorithms have to be computed, despite the trend towards distributed automation the multiprocessor system is often the most cost-effective solution. This particularly applies whenever processes are concentrated in one location, as in the case of roll stands in metallurgical plants, for instance.
For more than 17 years, ECKELMANN AG has been implementing turnkey automation solutions on the basis of multiprocessor systems, from planning through delivery of the computer systems and application programs to installation, commissioning and maintenance and, if requested, even including the necessary electrical installations. If specified by customers, use is made of products from the market leader.
The metallurgical industry is one special focus of the
applications. This is proven by a large number of successfully completed multiprocessor applications throughout the world.
Thanks to its extensive experience in the field of complex
technological control systems (TCS), together with renowned customers ECKELMANN AG has developed and deployed an
automation system on the worldwide scale that goes by the name of the multiplatform-compatible E·ProBAS automation
system, which does justice particularly well to the requirements
of a large number of applications. E·ProBAS supports the
VMEbus, the MultiBus II and Compact PCI, and is also available
for the industrial PC as a variant for one processor.
Systems under E·ProBAS are
- scalable from the single processor system to the networking of several multiprocessor systems
- communicative thanks to support of the industrial standard communication protocols and the
system-wide shared memory
- can be configured, programmed and maintenance
in a standardised fashion
- open for expansions
Programming of multiprocessor applications is based on
proven standards and is subject to strict quality assurance.
